Friday Things & Running Playlist

It's been kind of a crappy week here in 'Merica.  How about a little distraction of... SHINY THINGS!

So, I finally tried those peel and stick on nail kits.  Anyone else try these?  I thought filing off the excess from the top did not work AT ALL.  I had to cut them down (plus part of my nail) and even after filing the edges they felt rather rough.  But, they stay on like white on rice and look pretty cool.  The design I liked best happened to be the 'Kiss' brand, so I'll have to compare with other more expensive brands like Sally Hansen and Essie.

  • So, there are a LOT of videos and funny clips going around regarding the government shutdown and the Affordable Care Act.  Well, most have been funny to ME.  Since they might not be funny for all, I highly recommend this video which should be interesting to all.  John Green is one of the coolest guys on the planet as well as the other half of Nerdfighters (some great info on that site also) and one of my favorite authors.  If you haven't read The Fault in Our Stars, get on that!
  • Buzzfeed: 35 Cutest Facts of all time.  Can't get over what a shaved guinea pig looks like.
  • I'm a little late to the party on Bat Dad - but, holy awesome. "Tables are for glasses, not asses!"
  • SAD DOG DIARY.  "My dear human has promoted me, teaching me how to shake so that I may participate in his business dealings..." Thank you Sally for sharing, and for also sharing...
  • Very cool article from the NYTimes on a very cool girl: Lorde, of the catchy song Royals.  I had no idea she was 16!
For the playlist, I'm adding Out of the Blue by System F in honor of our anniversary last week.  It's what we used to introduce the wedding party, and ourselves, at the reception.  Yep, we have a longstanding tradition of listening to trance/techno around here.

Happy weekend!

  1. Lorde seems very cool - her song is SO catchy - it seems so different from everything else playing on the radio right now.

Ooo, I'll have to check that brand out. I forgot to update everybody - getting that stuff OFF of my nails was a chore. So, for the upside of not having very-difficult-to-chip nail "polish", the downside is trying to get it off. Let me know how that goes for you.
